Hello!
I'm talking about a Kingston Data Traveler 2.0 - 8Gb.
I'm almost sure the cause was a faulty (worn out) usb port that made false contact.
The result was some of the files on it got truncated, with missing data, but not deleted or lost, and the file size is smaller. All the files are there, but a lot of them are inaccesible with the corresponding software with an error message of damaged file. Most of them are PDFs and Office Documents.
Windows asked to repair the drive and I made the mistake of answering yes.
Now the pendrive seems to be working fine. I've managed to make an image on Linux.
I've used TestDisk and PhotoRec to recover data (working on the image), but all the files that were damaged, are "recovered" exactly similar to the damaged ones, with the same size and without the missing data.
I've been searching on the Internet but I can't find anything about this particular type of data loss.
Any advice on how can I try to recover the missing data on those files?
Some of the .doc and .xls are really important to me, and have no backup of the most recent ones =(
Thank you!
