Hello,

I went back to my laptop only to find it in BIOS. Sometimes it's detected, sometimes it's not. I put it in an enclosure, windows disk manager detects it briefly but it disappears without even showing up in the explorer. I tried IDE mode and XP, still won't show up.

Can SSDs have bad sectors (nand cell)? Is it the controller? Is there any software that looks past whatever part that's damaged?

If the SSD stays up for long enough, try to obtain a SMART report.

You could use CrystalDiskInfo for this.

I'll try to catch it.

edit

Nope. Crystaldiskinfo won't detect it. Even when it was showing in device manager.

I just did a quick research and it's expensive as hell. Anything that doesn't cost more than a car?
