Hi,

Yesterday, a customer wanted me to recover videos from his camcorder.
The video files were stored in the internal memory. He had formatted the device.
After format he used the device one or two times and recorded some short videos.

I had physical access to 32 GB internal memory with DMDE. So I imaged it sector by sector and gave the camera back to the customer.

But now, I see all the sectors are "00" except for fat file system and the videos recorded after format.
I found on internet, some of sony cameras do secure wipe when formatting.
But when I asked customer, he said it took 3 to 7 seconds to format camera.

So dear gurus. Can you explain me? Is this device performs secure wipe when formatting? If so how could it wipe all sectors within 3 to 7 seconds. Or I think somehow it blocks unallocated area and gives just zeroes to me?

Thank you.

I thought so. But the format speed (actually it is secure wipe) seems strange to me because it is so fast.
Anyway, Thank you very much for the reply and sharing your opinion.
