Hi,

I have problem with this Intel 520 series SSD disk. The disk is locked with ATA password. I try with hdparm without success because I don't know the master password. Does someone know the default master password for this Intel 520 480Gb fw:400i ? One more question I found brand new controller on Internet SandForce SF-2281. In case I buy and replace the controller will it solve my problem ? Do I have to burn new firmware in the controller. I have not special tools like PC-3000. I saw four empty holes on the pcb which I suspect as a serial port marked as J1. I did not understand how the disk was locked I suspect lenovo laptop which I connect with this SSD. Anyway now I can't format the disk because I receive input\output error and Warning: This drive is locked by ata password. Thanks in advance !

Thanks for the reply !
Yes I can. But when I connect the SSD to the Lenovo laptop there is a padlock in upper left corner, asking for password. I export a log with Intel SSD toolbox before connection with the laptop. I also can export new log after connection with laptop but a little bit later today.

Hi,
I export new log file by Intel SSD Toolbox. It seems that there is not change in the security status of the disk before and after attaching to lenovo laptop. So the disk have been locked before. According to number of answers I suspect that there is not solution for my disk. But If I change the controller with brand new one do I have to flash firmware in the new chip ?

Yes, I think you would need to flash firmware to a new controller.

CanĀ“t you ask the owner of the disk about the password ?

First thing I made was this but he have not such info .The disk was listed on Ebay as Faulty\Untested. I contact also intel but they asked me for invoice, but I have only Ebay invoice which is useless.

Hard one, and the way people talk about SandForce controllers, probably not easy.

Just my personal opinion, but it would be easier if you send it back to the seller and invest in one nearer you that you can personally test before buying
