BGA-108

July 20th, 2018, 11:12

Anyone came into contact with Samsung Chips that appear to be BGA-132/152 with the mechanical support pads not present.. BGA-108 if you like. Chips measure 12mm x 14mm.

Marking: K9PHGY8S7C-XCK0

seems the middle 88 pins are same pinout on both 152 and 132 and may be also on these chips. Very little data online about these. Will do some tests in the next few days but just wondering if existing sockets would read it.

I would determine the identity of the power and ground balls on the PCB (by testing for continuity with the adjacent bypass capacitors). Then you could play with reasonable safety.

Confirmed. was able to read these chips from the SSD in a BGA152 (1.8v) socket. It takes a bit of lining up though. I'm playing with the idea of 3D printing a chip guide to locate it properly, but already read 6 out of the 8 chips.
