Post subject: | Modify SSD Serial Number |
Iv'e been trying to find a way to edit the serial number on an SSD. Iv'e found the SMI Mass Production Tools and I have a sata to USB adapter on it's way but the one and only video I could find that showed how to use it included a part where I had to use a jumper on two holes labeled ROM which put it in or enabled ISP mode however the two problems with that is: 1)It was a different controller version. 2)It was a DIY board where the jumper holes were clearly labeled and he manually soldered on the nand memory. The drive I plan to try this on is the Adata SU800. Anyone have experience with flashing SSD firmware? |

You might be lucky. The Adata SU800 seems to have labled the boards too, and J3 seems to me like it could be the ROM jumper. J2 might be a serial port and J1 might be JTAG. If you have a different controller version, then you might want to search for the SMI Mass Production Tool in the correct version for the controller. But perhaps it also works on that version. Which controller do you have specifically? Please provide photos of the whole PCB please. As long as you don't have any data on the SSD, it shouldn't harm when you try a wrong version, I guess. (But I can't guarantee) Please let us know about your results. |

Was this the "DIY" PCB? https://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/SSD-PCBA-KITS-SSD-DIY-PCBA-Flash-Interface-BGA152-132-SM2246XT-H-Controller-SATA6Gb-s-Interface/32543701998.html |
