Well,
i have a very basic issue with VNR that is as following ....
1 : Once you insert chips inside adapter and fix on VNR it should ID and give us selection ,Then we need to choose whatever we think should be selected ,but when ever we ask for help they change those parameters so much that it goes above my head .The same very chip you insert in pc3k press read id id is read read chips its done ,check ecc apply and next job you can do ,
I can see that if you have a deep understanding of flash architecture, VNR must be absolutely fantastic. It is flexible, adaptable and you can do far more than you can with PC3000. But without that knowledge in an world where flash is changing so fast it is hard to keep up. As said previously I am not giving up on VNR I am determined to crack it, but I know it will be a long haul. If you are like me and do HDD, SDD, Flash, RAID and Cellphone recoveries devoting time to learning advanced stuff for VNR is hard. However I see Sasha is holing a class in the US in October for the following which I might attend:-
NAND Bad Columns analysis and removal
Block Management and Translation reconstruction
Page structure layout Analysis
XOR Scrambler and Key Extraction
Analysis of bit errors in NAND and Power Adjustment
Reverse Engineering of Unsupported Devices, ECC Codes, and NAND Memory Config Analysis
I think its a lot of this information will help (or it might confuse me more)....
