Your "solution" is useless on its own. At the very least, it requires additional hardware.

Moreover, if the heat affected component is on the underside of the PCB, then you will derive little, if any, benefit from the adapter unless you cut away the obstruction. In any case, you need to first investigate the cause of the heating, which necessitates access to the PCB with a multimeter.

Yes, but sometimes you need to buy new hardware.
There is around 8mm of space underneath...+ maybe 2-3mm more if it's not tightened...so there is some space for cooling without cutting.
And of course if you find the shorting problem that cause the heat, then it's of course better to swap that component.
