It could just be the picture, but it looks a bit dirty to me. Specifically between the pins of the square controller chip.

Have you tried giving it a bath in isopropyl alcohol, using a brush to clean all the contacts, and then fully drying it?

You might find that will solve the issue.

You can start by checking R5 (2.2Ω Resistor). It's common for that resistor to blow if there is a power issue.

Indeed, I bet the crud around the controller pins is flux.

Oh, I didn't zoom in before, but you are right. Now I see it looks like the perennial toast mark in the R where it burned up.

what is the controller number? I can make out last digits "98M-QN" but not the first letters and numbers. Also what NAND chip is it. Photo of other side?
