Post subject:  MicroSD READ-ONLY behaviour in Android

Hello guys,,,

I was wondering if someone knows about this issue or had similar cases like this...

MicroSD memory added to Android Mobile (Android 6+ & higher) and you use it for a while (Enabled Encryption or not its the same)
when you pull it out and connect to windows you are able to READ its data but you CANNOT FORMAT/MODIFY it

no matter what you do, it says Format done, but nothing changes... DATA remains the same (either Encrypted or not)

anyone got similar to this scenario?

Note: I came up with a result about this matter and wanted to verify with those who had similar cases...
you may PM if don`t want to go public about it...

thank you

Is it a Kingston branded memory? or does this happen with different flash cards?

is it the read only attribute on the actual partition? or were they exFAT and not really FAT32?

this page https://forum.fairphone.com/t/sd-card-suddenly-switches-to-read-only-file-system/37570/6 is saying:

I figured out that instead of rebooting one can unmount the SD card (Settings -> Storage -> Chose SD Card -> Eject -> Confirm) and then mount the card again, without removing it from the device.

Thanks for the hint. Unmounting and re-mounting the SD card does indeed work. And is faster than a reboot.

I have a FairPhone 2, stuck on Android logo after OS upgrade failure. I tried "wiping cache", doesn't help. Anyone knows a tool that can extract data ?

Could TMP_WRITE_PROTECT bit be set?
