Post subject:  Data recovery from SSD X400 M.2 2280 256GB - Recycle bin

Hello,

I have various previous experiences with data recovery from HDD, SD cards etc. This time I got a laptop with the SSD X400 M.2 2280 256GB inside.

I assume that as long as it has NTFS / Win10 on in, it shall behave as a normal drive.

Data has been deleted to Recycle bin and the Recycle bin has been emptied.

I have tried EASEUS data recovery software, File scavenger and one other. EASEUS sees the folders with photos that were in Recycle bin. However every attempt to recover them ends up with files in forlders, that have some sizes, file creation dates but inside there is nothing. 26GB of data where all the .jpg files are full of NULL.

I tried the recovery from the laptop, that I booted from Hirens Boot CD 15.2 Win 10 OS.

The laptop has been switched off since the deletion, so I guess the space has not been overwritten, not even with some special software.

What could be the reason for it?

Does recycle bin has some specifics?
Does SSD has some specifics?

Right now I am running another scan with Card Recovery, that has ability to recognize the file header signatures of media files and is often successful with SD cards but doesn´t restrore the original dir structure or file name etc.

Thanks for your tips.

TRIM did it's job. Read about it. Deleted data from SSDs are unrecoverable when TRIM is on.

Thank you, quite stupid, I must say :-/ Have to check the TRIM status on my own laptop.

SSD is genius at killing data recovery chances.

- TRIM kills most common logical recovery scenarios
- What TRIM doesn't erase gets lost when the SSD goes stupid because the crappy NAND starts to fail, corrupting the firmware accompanied with super tight encryption by the manufacturers
- and, for the few who survive, they get hit with a ransomware virus

So, where on HDD the FAT gets corrupted, the data is still there, on SSD with TRIM on the FAT is ok, but the data is lost.
