Maxiotec MK8215

I received a SSD without case, just pcb, it has Maxiotec MK8215 controller which is totally unsupported by PC-3000 and a sticker saying it has 120GB.

I applied solution used here: https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39202 but with no success.

When nand VCC is between 1850 - 2175V it gets ready and identifies as Generi Loader SATA Device.

I can also read and write all 256 sectors presented in ID. Data in those sectors however does not look like something familiar.

If lower or higer it stays BSY.

Any new tricks in the toolbox?

When nand VCC is between 1850 - 2175V it gets ready and identifies as Generi Loader SATA Device.

That's probably because the controller cannot detect the NAND at these low voltages. You would probably see the same ID if you were to short the R/B* pin to ground. That's why I believe that this method could be useful in those cases where the "safe mode" shorting point is unknown.

I tested on a number of different ssd's and always in that voltage range, ssd is going to "safe mode" which is very usefull in the cases where the "safe mode" shorting point is unknown as you said fzabkar.

On the other hand "safe mode" is useless if you have no means to go further.

Right now i have an Adata SU650 with Maxio MAS0902A-B2C. Normal mode gets BSY. Can enter safe mode either by shorting point or lowering voltage on NAND but it's unsupported by acelab.

If all you want to do is to reach safe mode, then you can probably get there by disabling the NAND Vcc regulator via its Enable pin. Otherwise you could ground the NAND R/B* pin, if you can locate it.
