Regarding the comment about not getting the duff drive back...

I don’t know what Northwinds policies are regarding return of original devices are, but ours is NOT to return the duff drive along with the data. Our reasoning being that if the data drive gets lost/broken on the way back then it’s game over, and also if for some reason there’s data missing or damaged then we can do work on the job (at no charge) etc...

Of course we will return the duff drive on request, with no charge for domestic shipping. But in 99.9% of cases, the duff drive is not requested back so after 30 days it’s either destroyed or securely erased and used for parts.

On rare occasions, the client tries to insist on the drive back at the same time, but after us explaining why it’s a bad idea they ALWAYS agree with our procedure and never in nearly 16 years have we sent both back together.

I had someone complain that the outer casing of their usb stick had been damaged gaining access for a chip off recovery. :roll:
