Hello everyone, my name is Richard, I'm currently living in Colombia.

I bought this ADATA XPG SX8100 1TB NVMe drive, around 2 months ago. On arrival I installed it on my MOBO Aorus B450 M. On first boot I noticed the drive was recognized by the BIOS correctly but never made it to Windows.

Even though ADATA offer a 5 year warranty on this product, it will probably cost me another $100 to send it from here to California to have it RMA, which I might end up doing as a last resort. I've recovered disk in bad condition in the past, mainly HDD old mechanical simple drives. I know it is time consuming so that's why I come here today.

After much much much trial and error, I have ended up with a uninitialized, read-only drive. I was able to clone this drive at a certain point before this, but not to have it boot to windows. I tried to update its firmware no success, install windows 10 from scratch no success. I could zero it or regenerate the drive but I'm not sure if its worth the time.

I managed to pass through to Windows 10 on my main drive, by connecting it to a NVMe PCIE x4 reader on a PCI Express port on the MOBO instead of directly to the M.2 slot.

I'm not aware of any tools or methods for SSDs, but I've read a few similar cases around and all have either get fixed by methods which doesn't work for me (diskpart) or just RMAing the drive.

I can upload a pic of the SMART tonight or Crystal Disk results if needed.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Here are the SMART results. I noticed now I can't get SMART info from Windows apps as usual. I had to use a WINPE environment to get it with DiskGenius and another one wiht HDAT2 using HirensBoot.

If there is any other information you want me to provide, let me know.

Thanks in advance,

if you cloned it, and don't need any data, then RMA it. else bin it. would you ever trust this drive again, even if you somehow managed to force an OS on it?
