Hello there,
I recieved one ssd for data recovery. Symptoms was not detecting. I open the cover and found that 2 marking things is toast. I replace it from another ssd. After replacing ssd is not detecting. It's firmware controller get untouchable hot. When marking things removed than firmware controller isn't getting hot. What's the problem? Can someone help me?

Measure the resistance between ground and each of L1, L2 and L3. Compare these results with your good SSD. I'm guessing that the Marvell controller is shorted.

BTW, I'm guessing that your PCB is a reference design. Here is a Goodram SSD using the same PCB:

I would transplant rom+processor and all nands to a donor board. Perhaps you have a burned track and will be like finding a needle on a haystack.

NANDs do not like heat!
Better not to touch them unless absolutely necessary.

I would start by measuring the resistances of the supplies. If the MCU's core or I/O rail is shorted, then transferring it will be pointless. There is plenty more to do before you reach for your iron.

Hello fzabkar sir.

following is my reading result

I can't find L1 in the pcb board.

Volt:

L2 = 1.56
L3 = 2.18

SD1 = 4.77
ZD1 = 4.77

U6 = 1.61 - 4.73

U5 = 2.11 - 4.73

C18 = 4.71

C17 = 1.84

C25 = 1.18

Continuity:

L2 = Beeping
L3 = Beeping

SD1 = 467
ZD1 = 455

C17 = BEEPING

C25 = BEEPING

OHM ( 200 RANGE ):

L2 = 0.00
L3 = 0.00

C17 = 4.3

C25 = 1.0

Little update about L1 I see back of the pcb.

Readining is...

Continuity:
L1 = Beeping.

Looking at the board someone has already been there and done that. It looks to have been butchered pre-post again.

Fzabkar as always is right, however it was exactly the aspect of the board that would make me jump for a transplant or call it quits.

P.S.
Sorry, i just noticed that you've found it :lol:

Though the idea was to check if there are shorts between inductors and ground (GND), not to check the inductors at their ends.
It is obvious that an inductor always turns out to be short when measured at its ends, so you cannot tell in this way whether it is good or not.
Put black probe on GND point and red probe on component ends that you need to check. Of course DO NOT power on pcb when you do resistence or continuity test.

You can also test power lines with voltage check, which you've already done.
0 volts on L1 would mean that there is a short on that power line !

Wait fzabkar opinion for furters moves.
In the meanwhile, can you check in continuity mode if C16 and C20 are shorted?

Hello Michael chiklis sir,

Test with probe to ground and red probe to components with continuity check without attach with computer, beeping sound come.

C16 reading with continuity check read is 485
C17 reading with continuity check Beeping...

Very likely there are shorted power lines where those components are attached.
Wait for fzabkar for more advices.

Multimeter beeps when the resistance is very low (usually under 50 ohm, check your multimeter manual).
Before you've measured on C17 4,3 ohms with 1,84V of voltage drop, to me doesn't seem that C17 is shorted.
It's normal to find low resistance on components near inductors or CPU.
What can you say about C20?

Hello michael chiklis sir,

C20 is also beeping

How much ohms on C20 with ohm meter?

When the pcb is powred, does C20 feel hot?

If C20 is very hot, very likely C20 is really shorted.
It is not head, check heat on U4

Hello Muchael Chiklis sir,

when power on both C20 and U4 not getting hot.
