Guys
I have got order to reduce size of pen drives to 2GB and clone from master pen drive (quantity 100 nos initially ) .Its from an automation company and they want to use there own custom OEM pen drives 16GB / 32GB in size.
Like hard disks where we can reduce size to any lower value ,is there any tool to reduce size of pen drives? I am ready to purchase such a tool if it is reasonably charged.

Sir ,
Every pendrive will have a controller ,The controllers programmer designed by the controller company is responsible to program firmware into pendrive initially ,I think that tool will be able to do it

Yeah, look into MPtools (here for example: https://flashboot.ru/, good luck with that!) or find some of those promo USB flash drive websites to do it for you.

I think MPTOOL is designed for specific MCu's . I will ask client to send one sample pen drive and check which mcu is used.

I have got a 4gb usb 2.0 pen drive from customer to reduce size to 2GB and clone with his master 2gb pen drive. Order is aprox. 100 units per month .
I have got mcu details using chipgenius and usbflash info
pen drive has alcor mcu.
While there are several tools available on usbdev.ru site , I don't know which tools will be having function to reduce size.
Someone familiar with alcor might be know more about speciifc tool

Hi SWM
I am trying to use your instructions to reduce size of pen drives for a customer . I have tried v22.11.16 which is last available on usbdev.ru site.
Customer wants to use in his automation equipment & due to limitations of stack memory his processor can detect pen drives of upto 2GB with sector size of 512 bytes.
While one pen drive was successful and got approved by customer one didn't . I will have to check availability of pen drives here in India first as customer has very low budget ( $5 per pen drive including pen drive and size reduction) .
I want to know where can I get clean original versions of the softwares for different microcontrollers ? I want to know detailed instructions as well how to use these tools as my knowledge is very basic and limited.
Appreciate any help.

I tried this software and unfortunately 2 out of 4 pen drives client sent were damaged .They are showing no media present. I a utterly disappointed and have given up further efforts due to following -
1) lack of knowledge
2) lack of proper tools -- so many variants and tools origin of which is unknown and give malware warnings
3) No official tutorials or proper literature available except russian /chinese forums
This is not my cup of tea
Thank you

Don't get discouraged so quickly . Mistakes are big steps in making success.
There is no tool available for fc212T , ask customer to send different make pen drives check alcor which is having more tools.

Maybe just google search "reduce size of usb flash drive"?
And if you format in FAT16, and so the limit is 2GB ...

Thanks SWM and Higgsboson for your encouraging comments

I have given pen drive by reducing size using diskpart. Even pen drive was getting detected as 2Gb in disk mangement.
But since customer is interfacing it with his automation equipment he wants actual technically 2GB (not logically as he is not reading it through PC)
Someone claiming manufacturer has ordered bare boards and nand chips from china and have assembled but there prototype pen drives failed to get detected in his automation equipment.
Since customer was serious I tried MPtools.
Thank you all of you helping me.

Not for all controllers have free utilities on the Internet.
And not for all types of NAND have binary code there.
It is easier to choose a flash drive for available utilities.

Well,
Customer is a industrial machines client and has enough money ,If i had this order i would have purchased a few drives and then selected what i could reduce and then given him a quote of pen drive plus my services ,When you work like a miser in india ,They treat you like one ,Think About It ..
