Hi,
I'm new to this forum and to CF Microdrives too. I have one 4GB Hitachi Microdrive which was not recognizable by several cameras only by windows via a card reader and i "tried" to fix it... but the result was devastating. I used your LowLevelFormat TOOL one or two times with no problems and some other tools too which I can not remember but now the card is not recognized by any tool I've tried nor the windows. The only utility that shows any sign that there is a device pluged in the reader is the HDDGURU's LowLovelFormatTool but I can't format the card because the LBA is 0  here is the screenshot...

If you have any ideas how to bring the card back to life PLEASE write, or at least tell me to bye a new one :|

I found some more information about the problem... the drive is with wrong CHS Data:
Quote:
Basic Hard Disk 2 (Generic USB CF Reader USB Device)
Total size:
2047.9 GB

2 199 023 255 040 Bytes

4 294 967 295 Sectors
Cylinders:
0xFFFFFFFF(4294967295)
Heads:
0x1(1)
Sectors per track:
0x1(1)

The Original Data is:
Quote:
Number of logical heads 16
Logical sectors/track 63
Number of logical cylinders 7936
Logical sector size 512
Total customer usable data sectors 7,999,488
Total customer usable data bytes 4,095,737,856

Now I remember that I've tried to make the drive 2gb ... and as you can see I've managed

How can I change the CHS information of the drive so that I can format it.. or is there any tool to reformat the card witch custom CHS Fields and of course to support USB. I've tried to run several DOS (BootCD) tools but I when loading the USBASPI V2.20 MS-DOS Driver the system stops at "... Scaning USB Devices ..."

With WinHEX I can enter the Drive Information but nothing else... all the sectors are BAD because of the wrong CHS :(

Both PartitionMagic and Paragon does not allow me to enter data for the drive.

PLEASE HELP !!!

Hi

You haven't made the drive into 2Gb, somehow it's reporting as 2Tb (2048Gb)!!

There's something fundamentally wrong with this.

Most common problem on these is the heads sticking to the platter.

Listen very carefully, can u hear it spin up OK, or a quiet ticking sound?
