I to all.
I have a very strange problem with this drive.
I power on it and i cannot ear any knock, but the hdd stay in BSY status
Running utility, that say me the drive have Lock Led problem
I try to run first solution for Lock Led, with short circuit the correct PCB point, but in this case the terminal show me some F3> prompt and after i see LED error again. In this way the status remain in BUSY and i cannot go on with the solution. I try more time and i have the same result :(
After that i try to run solution using motor isolation, but the solution end with Terminal error. :(
The last try is to download the new seagate firmware from seagate site, but when i run it the upgrade say me "No SATA drive founs" and i cannot update teh firmware. :(

Please some one can tell me how i can do to solve this lock led problem ?

Thank you to all.

If you short circuit the PCB while booting the drive, you can reach T> and run commands ?

I've done a few of those, so I think it can be done, but something is wrong with the normal solution.

It's usually down to timing with the short points.

Try applying power, wait 2-3 seconds then apply short. With the HDA connected to the PCB.

I try that, but i can see F3> prompt, repeated for more time, for some second and after i see again LEDxxxx error and hdd stay on BSY. In that mode i cannot sent any terminal command. If i wait, i can see, each 20/30 sec, another LEDxxxx error reported. I try to press CTRL-Z between LEDxxxx error and another LEDxxxx error, but i cannot have F3> prompt. I suppose terminal is locked but i cannot unlock it. :(

pcimage is right have to wait for a while then short, but make sure ur shorting the proper points the motor should stop (kind of hang when shorting)

also try to disconnect the PCB from the hdd, and power on with terminal OPEN (terminal open before powering on) then see the LOG and post results here

I think your drive might have heads issues, not only FW problem.

I solved my case :D

The problem was probably on firmware version. This Hdd is HP custom with HPG2 firmware. Using the standard technique like short cut pin, it doesn't function.
I make a new try. I start Lock Led solution, but instead to short cut write channel, i inject interference signal (Square wave with appropriate amplitude) on write channel.
In that way, terminal unlock immediatly and i can finish the Lock Led solution.
Now i can read all data.

Thank you to all for help.

Bye
