Here is an example where we extract the loader from the 0021LVM1 Lenovo firmware update for 5400.6 Momentus drives. It is included in the FWSH43 package (47MB):

I am not sure if my hdd SMART-tool correctly interpretate SMART data of my hdd with an old firmware, I have already buy a new hdd, but want to update a FW to the latest one to become sure if it is dead...

Unfortunately my ODD seems to be also dead, and I couldn't run the burnd ISO, I also tried to run ISO from grub bootloader, but also faild, so I want to try updating via hdparm but need the firmware file for that.

Can you explain what EXACTLY is the problem with your drive

There are no visible problem, but hdd is 10 year old...

what do you think to be "strange" with S.M.A.R.T.

the raw value of 196 atribute seems to be too high for good working HDD
atribute 7 is also non zero...

Updating the firmware will NOT fix your drive ...

Yes, sure, but I hope it could correct values of SMART

Yes, thanks, I do understand how the SMART is working, the current FW is modified by Lenovo, so I am not sure that this firmware is compateble with standart SMART reading programs....
The only reason to update the FW I thought that the update could convert current SMART data to an standart format if it is differ....

Ok, thanks.
So there is no way to find out if my HDD is dying or not, by SMART data?
I'll move data to new HDD and then scan the surface via victoria or mhdd. Hope it will be enough.
