Hi! I have this WDC WD5000LMVW-11CKRS0, that i can clone using DE and SATA interface, but i cannot decrypt it. I cannot access to western utility cause when i try to identify it i get "HDDs RAM reading error; unexpected error: Abort command: No aditional Sense Information". I tried looking for the encription key for symwave and other encription ICs, but i guess it is a SED cause i haven t found anything.

The thing is that when i use usb interface i have exactly the same situation. I can access HDD but look encripted and i don t know why. Any clue?

Could it be encrypted but another tool and not by the WD encryption chip?
Have you asked the client if he was encrypting the data?

Hi MindMergepk, pclab. Thanks for your response. It doesn t make sense for me too  . I have asked my client if he had used some encryption but he said that he hadn t.

What if someone changed PCB+eeprom (donnor usb PCB + original eeprom)? Could be that? I don t know why i cannot enter western utility. Have someone had same error?

Best and thanks for your help!

it can easily be checked out, search the ROM for the WWN (you should find it in mod 0D).
