Have you put the jumper in place?
Instead of drd dsc all registers will flash as per your 3rd pic, if you didn't.
Also why are you trying to SS the drive? :o

Tell us more about the sound the drive makes as mentioned in your first post. Is it a high pitched 'ringing' sound. Can you post a recording?

In WD drives, all jumpers off are required for master.

If it's making noises, the heads could be making contact with the platters. Be very careful.

Can you get access to firmware modules? If so, start by reading the firmware modules into the PC-3000. Then you need to determine which firmware modules are damaged.

If you don't have access to firmware then you may need to put the hard drive in safe mode and turn all heads off except head 0 in RAM in order for you to get access to the firmware. If that does not work, you can try eliminating all heads except head 1. Again, once you gain access to the firmware, you will need to read all copies of the firmware into the PC-3000 and determine which ones are damaged. You may end up needing a very close match donor drive that will allow you to perform hot swap / smart hot swap to gain access to data.
