I have ST500LT012 the drive spin for few second then stop and the head is moving (not stuck). then it gets DRD DSC. but when I try to read ID i stuck on BSY DRD DSC until I power OFF/ON the hdd. and when I start utilities this is what I get: LED:000000BC FAddr:00007A43 and after repowering I get in the terminal: Rst 0x10M SPINUP FAILED ExecuteSpinRequest op=0100 resp=0007 op=0100 resp=0007 LED:000000BC FAddr:00007A43 LED:000000BC FAddr:00007A43 CfwDiscCode Not Loaded: 0002B4E0 LED:000000BC FAddr:00007A43 |

I suspect bad media but I'm curious why the "SPINUP FAILED" message. The drive spins up fine with HDA isolated, so it's not seized spindle. |

Because this massage relates to servo recalibration, not to SPIN UP literally. And yes, you have to think about heads replacement, current heads are not good with big probability. |
