Can someone confirm if it's necessary to have the WD PCBs connected by SATA when recovering the damaged ROM by TTL ?

Will PC-3000 be able to recover a ROM without pluging the SATA cable ?

And to READ ROM on broken PCBs will PC-3000 be able to READ A ROM by TTL adaptor for example on a drive with broken SATA port ?

Yes ,
You have to connect the Power and TTL only .Then once the drive gets power the TTL senses The MCU and Starts To Work On It .

Spildit ,
If you want to see that in action i can make a live video for you on my Facebook page .I do a lot of live videos to educate people who have less knowledge then me and learn in the experience when a senior gives any comment ,Education is a two way process

Well, thanks for the offer but i just needed to confirm that there were no ATA commands involved at all on that ROM operation by TTL.

I was thinking that PC-3000 could be sending some sort of ATA command to allow for TTL ROM WRITING like enabling X-Modem but that wouldn't make sense because if the PCB is already "bricked" by wrong ROM then PCB will not respond to ATA.

I was just trying to make sure that the operation is indeed done only by TTL and that all the commands (without changing resistors or shorting points on the PCB) are issued by the TTL interface.

Thanks once again.
