You will probably have a better chance of getting help if you post quality pictures of both sides of your PCB. That said, it might just be easier to use a SATA PCB. Typically 771960, 771939, 771959 for that drive (assuming it has a 771961 PCB). |

There is no adapter per se. The conversion from SATA to USB is all built into the drive. There are two resistors that you can generally remove and solder into the SATA lanes if you must do it that way. However, it's generally easier to just transfer the ROM or ROM code to a matched SATA board. I've been keeping an updated list of compatible SATA boards on this thread: https://www.data-medics.com/forum/wd-pa ... e-t13.html However, you'll likely find that by bypassing the USB bridge the data will be encrypted. So you'll need to have a method for handling the encryption afterward. |

And why don't you buy one? It's cheap... And with PC3K (which I assume you have) it's a job for a few minutes, instead of some time soldering... |

Hi all. I am new user at this platform. My English not good. And new about recovery. I have same hdd WD10JMVW 11AJGS1 USB 3 PCB 2060 771961 , 1 TB Rom Firmware Version : 00160018 It's working busy mode. Its allow to get data . But extreemly slow. I use MRT . MRT technician says I need LDR that have 411 5C 1B 11 . I found LDR file in forum that have 411 1B 11 but not have 5C . Anyone can help me. I have SATA PCB . Tried hot swap. But i can not do nothing with it. Thanks

Why do you need a loader if the drive is ID fine? Probably you might have a SLOW bug or even one (or more) not working head or reading slowly. |

Hdd connecting with USB 3 port. I cannot see modules , tracks etc. Also windows not detect first. I find a strange method Some HDD accept this method. I making readonly with using windows diskpart. This method mostly working busy mode hdd. Sometime raw hdd turning to NFTS directly. So this hdd turned NFTS in readonly mode. But not solve busy mode. Anyway. I can see hdd family only with this method for this hdd. But i cannot see modules etc in MRT. It's allow DE but again very slow. I can see everything inside with windows. Same. Busy. I tried tv9 tv10 circuit short. Windows not detect media. Says no media in device manager. Both Windows and MRT not see hdd. I see only a USB device capacity 0. I tried hot swap to Sata PCB . Nothing ... MRT technician said LDR method. Trying to find solution I am outside . I can send detailed info and screen shot later. Thanks |

Thanks for all replies. I am new as i said before. Spildit wrote: Forget about those MRT guys and outsource the drive to someone with more experience to recover the data from it .... I know . But money problem..) Spildit wrote: The idea of shorting those points is exactly to prevent FW from loading. If you do that why do you think that windows would see the drive ? I learned . Thanks Spildit wrote: If this were a drive that i were attempting to recover i would : Option 1 - Plug by TTL to USB PCB pins and attempt to read module 02. If Access is granted i would patch 02 and clear Re-Lo. Power off/on. Image by USB. Option 2 - Use a SATA PCB. Move ROM content either by external programmer, moving chip or reading ROM by USB if possible (or TTL if available). Now with SATA PCB try to initialize dir + module 11, etc ... Can you gain access to SA to patch 02 and clear re-lo ? If the drive does ID properly ... SOMETIMES ... It does mean that you still have access to undamaged overlay and firmware ... I would vote for considerable amount of bad sectors. Hopefully head(s) are still ok and the slow issue patch will allow you for imaging/cloning. Now ... If you can't do that by USB you might need to deal with decryption later on ... . I will search about how can I try this options. .... Quote: - Normal. How are you connecting the drive to MRT ? By .... USB ? If the drive is stuck in BSY you will have trouble with SATA even more with .... USB !!! Or are you plugging the drive to the USB port of the computer and wishing that MRT do see the drive ? yes . MRT see it. Quote: If you can see it with MRT DE at least you should have connected it to MRT somehew ... Most likely if you are using USB you can't send VSCs to the drive with MRT and that is why you can't see modules .... Assuming that you have some sort of adaptor to connect the USB drive by ---- USB ? To MRT ? No computers USB Port. I can see all with MRT DE, Only WD USB for fixing sections Quote: - Can you explain EXACTLY what you have done here ? How did you ... HOT SWAP this one ? U12 chip swap from 2060-771961 USB pcb to 2060-771960 Sata Pcb I have TTL Uart usb adaptor. But i cannot use it properly. I dont know why. Sometimes working. Sometimes not. But how do I connect with this HDD. Tehre is no com port Thanks for all . I will try to learn your advices.

I cannot see. I don't know why. I afraid to make wrong thing and lost data. And again swap to original PCB. There are 700 Gb data in hdd. I am recovering in slow motion )). 120 gb 1 week. Customer need especially 150 gb important data. I will try again when I get 150 gb important part. My guess I could make better I read some more articles about this kind HDD. I hope I would |

I got 240 gb recover in slow mode. Will end tomorrow. And I am free to try some experience with this drive. )) |

% 100 recovery fast speed. I finished important data recovery . 250 gb in 15 days. And customer allow to get risk . Then In 15 min I solved this case. Lol. my 1st professional case with MRT . Hot bios swap to 1 TB usb 3 2060 771961 001 RevA WD10JMVW 11AJGS1 1 TB Sata 2060 771960 000 RevA WD10JPVX 22JC3T0 Isolate PCB preamp pins Power on Disable 411 power of Remove isolate and screw PCB power on Solve slow responding Power of power on Enable 411 Power of on And DE . Perfect transfer rate . ) **I do not remember exactly whenj I did screw again PCB . I write as I remember. I don't use LDR as someone said before And there is no 5C in module list. I checked module list in hdd after repair. I San see all of SA modules fine. HDD some bad sectors. But allow to recover 140 mbs

True. And with ATA . Not used com connection I but not directly. I saw modules after some steps. I don't remember when I see after which step. (Guess after blocking 411 ) I have 2 hdd has same PCB number. I tried another one before I guess. So it wasn't work before as last one I will try to demonstrate again after recover all data. I will record steps to help me future . Last trying |

Hi everyone. I'm stuck with problem like this. I have WD10JMVW with USB 3.0. Via USB device menager sometimes shows it as WD MY PASSPORT 0820, but most of time it's just unvisible. Head and motor are working almost fine. There is wired buzzing when work but i hear head trying to "read data". It's not stuck in pads i'm sure. I tried to solder cables for sata conection ... and here it is. I have everthing prepared but mobo its also not see this drive in BIOS so... question is witch resistors i have to resolder to SATA lines ? I'll be grateful for any help. Thanks guy's. data-medics wrote: There is no adapter per se. The conversion from SATA to USB is all built into the drive.
