Hello, I have a Toshiba DT01ACA3000 (JAN-2016) PCB Sticker: PF00035 TS0242C K1N549 01B2 PCB REF: 220 0A90380 01 I bought a new PCB with REF 220 0A90380 01 (but I don't know the HDD model). I transferred the ROM but unfortunately, the PCB didn't work. Could anyone please, tell which parameter have to match between the patient and the donor PCB for that drive. 1. what does didn't work mean ? motor spins up ? gets RDY ? 2. can you read the NVRAM from the old PCB using PC3K ? |

@sosrecup, did you not dump/backup the ROM/NVRAM after you removed it? My approach would be to determine why the original PCB failed, and whether there is a problem with the preamp or motor. That's assuming that you did not damage the chip with your soldering. |

@sosrecup, if can't solve it on your own, I would go with @fzabkar but as as stated above, need to know:, if the NVRAM/motor/preamp is intact as an alternative, if you have a matching PCB (example: the donor WITH the original ROM/NVRAM) try first a cold swap ans see what going on and same goes here, need to know:, if the NVRAM(patients)/motor/preamp is intact |

@fzabkar The original drive has a overvoltage and I can see some burnt electronic component. I tested the Ampere between the coils of the drive, and the motor doesn't seem to have a problem. @jermy the question I'm asking, is what are the matching criteria for PCB for that drive? @Spildit The PCB I bought works fine with it's original ROM. when I plug it into PC3K, BSY light is GREEN. When I plug only the PCB with the Patient ROM, the BSY light is GREEN too. But when I plug the drive, no answer and no green light (even for BSY) |

If you upload hires photos of both sides of the PCB, I could show you where to test the preamp. |

I think these are the +/-5V supplies. Compare your two drives and PCBs. AFAICT, there is some damage to the Vcore supply in the photo. Have you tested the TVS diodes and fuses? That should tell you if an overvoltage was to blame.
