Media Cache has been repeatedly emphasized in topics about rosewood, however some technicians I know from DFL told me to ignore MC when dealing with LM, they even published a feature to fix partial sector access in their latest update. And allegedly there are numerous cases proven to be solved by their new feature. I just wonder if algorithm against ECC enables us to gain access to user data, why insist on working with MC? Even in ACE's free support blog, there are articles about recalculating translator after backup of vital sys files

In my experience also MC and Rosewoods DO have a great impact on user data.

I had a case recently, no user data access, only through the utility sectors could be read, the first 180,000,000 or so showed no data whatsoever, on spin up the log showed MCMT errors, sys file 348 copies 0,1 were both damaged in exactly the same areas so a composite was not possible, even with single sector, ECC ignore.

I did gain access to the data, but it involved more work.

No matter what the others told you , you have to try and prove before assuming it a concrete truth

I did gain access to the data, but it involved more work. Sure. rely on technician more work and experience. Waiting for ACE to have a true solution to fix such translator issue in PC3000. It has been quit a long time since their last workshop talking about the MC case. I believe many people are also waiting.
