Hi,

Can anyone confirm that the ROM information is kept on the Marvel BGA chip as shown in image attached.

We had a situation were we have physically swapped the patient Marvel chip from the damaged PCB to a good donor PCB. When we read the ROM through boot code the serial number is the same as the previous donor ROM information. Is the terminal getting this from somewhere else on the donor PCB board?

Would appreciate your feedback

IIRC, the ROM is that tiny BGA chip above the MCU and to the right of the SDRAM. If you can tell us its markings, I should be able to locate its datasheet.

It's also very likely that the info is being pulled 100% from that NAND chip. It is an SSHD after all, so it'll only re-read the ROM if you wipe the NAND.

Thanks for your replies. I have written the codes on the new image. Also I can't remember if the NAND has been reinitialised yet.

Cheers perfect, now have the ROM to write to donor PCB. We want to initialise the Nand on the donor PCB and have tried the Kahuna patch but get objects not found error. Any ideas ?

This is not Kahuna family , that's why the patch is not working. These are Rosewood SSHD drives. No Rom patch as far as I know.
