Hello, I used to recover data from SD cards with problems via SD->SATA adapter. Now i got a microSD card, Sandisk 200GB. It gets DRD DSC. I can read sectors in "sector edit". But in DE whatever option i use i get all the sectors black. I remember that i used "do not use hardware retries" in the past for SD cards, but this one has more than 300 000 000 LBA so this option doesn't work. Any idea what am i missing now? It works fine on every other card i tried - 4-8GB. |

Could be a fake, lots of them around on eBay etc... Or just faulty, degraded memory preventing access. |

You will need specialized equipment to work with this one such as PC3000 Flash, VNR or FE. If you have been able to recover all your past flash media with just a SATA connection you are one lucky person. |

I can read parts of this card via PC3000 via USB. It works but has a lot of bad sectors. So just wanted to make it more automatic. I can do some of this work by reading part till it hangs, replug the card, reopen the task, read more and get old on finish. Guys, hold your horses... and imagination. I never said that i fixed SD cards via SATA connection. I said that some of cards that had bad sectors i could read via PC3000 and SD->SATA adapter to use repower option. So, if i can read sectors by any tool: DMDE, PC3000(via USB), and Windows does recognize the card and content, it's not that bad to use VNR. I have it and it's my last resort for this case. 200GB... ECC... good luck! I just don't understand why DE in PC3000 can't read sectors if utility can. |

It would probably read with the PC3K-Flash SD card adapter. |

Maybe but don't have it. Here's a picture. On the left - via utility. On the right - DE. I remember that using "do not use hardware retries" made the only good results in the past. But this option doesn't work with LBA> 268435455. Mine has 384 503 808. Just checked - other cards read in every "command to read" option. Just results are different. This card does not read at all in DE.

I can read some of sectors with DMDE, sure. At some point it hangs. The card has a lot of bad sectors. It can't skip them. Tried with Windows and Linux too. It just hangs the card and needs to be replugged. That's why i want to use SD-SATA so it will repower the card with PC3k. Made good results in the past with this method. |

Solved! Cut LBA to 25GB and now "do not use hardware retries" can be used. DE reads data now. There's like 10GB of data so i'm more than happy. Case can be done without my interference. |

I just caught the SD-to-SATA adapter you mentioned. From what I've read, most of those adapters are limited to only working with smaller SD cards...definitely nothing larger than 64GB, from what I could read. |

Still... worth using. If i can get 80-90% of data in few hours with original structure, right?  I can't imagine the price client would have to pay for a 200GB card recovery via NAND. Especialy Sandisk.

Again, it sounds like it is likely a good candidate for the SD card adapter for PC3K Flash and possibly recovering 100% of the data in a few hours, with original file and folder structure. But, your client may be happy with the partial recovery. |

@melvin: just information that each SanDisk (even not DDR) can be switched by special command into DDR reading mode via NAND... reading such card will take 6-8h so it's great speed improvments on high capacity cards like yours one |

Wow, that is something i didn't know! I need to find it. Still... ECC and structure reconstrution would take forever. |
