Hello,

We try to obtain an access to the data on a hard drive WDC WD10JMVW-11AJGS2 with PC3000 connected in USB3 directly.

In the Disk Management, Windows asks to intialize it.

In PC3000, the hard drive is automatically detected as the FBLite 2.5" Family (in WD), here is the HDD ID info :

Code:
   Model : WDC WD10JMVW-11AJGS2
  Serial : WD-WX51AC308918
Firmware : 01.01A01
Capacity : 1 000 GB (1 953 459 633)

We made a backup of the ROM/Module/SA tracks without error.

We made a Scan and remap defects and here is the result :

Code:
Initial LBA............................. : 0
Final LBA............................... : 1 953 459 632
Test type............................... : Verify
Error Code : 51AD....................... : Unknown error code: 51AD

View module 90 information
Total heads............................. : 4
Used heads.............................. : 4
Mdl 47 version.......................... : 1005jB05
ROM Version version..................... : 00160018 (16.18)
Mdl 11 Version.......................... : 00160018 (16.18)

Scan and remap defects
Initial LBA............................. : 0
Final LBA............................... : 1 953 459 632
Test type............................... : Verify
SAT command sending error: Illegal Request : Invalid Field in CDB
Techno ON............................... : Ok

We have these error :
- Error Code : 51AD....................... : Unknown error code: 51AD
- SAT command sending error: Illegal Request : Invalid Field in CDB

When we try to open it with Data Extractor, we received this message

Code:
Operation aborted
Catastrophic failure
Error Read LBA: 0

What can we do ?

Thank you !

Thank you for the answers ! We will follow this guide https://blog.acelaboratory.com/pc-3000- ... drive.html

So with a replacement of the PCB (and import of the info of the patient PCB), you think it should be works ?

Do have you an idea what is the cause of the problem ?

You cannot really diagnose a drive over USB (unless it's clicking etc).
Convert to SATA and then see behavior.

Hello !

Thank you for the answers. We succesfuly attach a SATA connector with soldering (see in attachment).

After that, we had "ABR" error.

We succeed to access to the data with a regeneration translator then a Clear SMART and a hard reset.

After that, we can recover the data with Data Extractor !

And why not getting a SATA PCB, Read ROM from patient PCB, write on donor PCB and that's it?
A lot faster.
