Hello,

Slow responding issues in a new disk, very few resources about. I need a mod 32 for:

ROM F/W version 0000000C

Model : WDC WD50NDZW-11MR8S1
Serial : WD-WXD1E992ETAX
Firmware : 02.01A02
Capacity : 5 TB (9 767 475 632)


I have full backup of SA for this drive, and also for the donor I had in stock, which is a 0000000J ROM/FW version of the same model of HDD. Happy to share.

For those who have not worked on these new 5TB WD disks, there is a new implementation of SED. It is different to the SED used in the 4TB SpyGlass. It can currently be politely described as 'problematic' as it appears that the "V2" decryption in PC3000 does not support it currently. In some respects access to the SA is actually easier on these than the 4TB SpyGlass as it is no longer necessary to block SA and use resources from file to get access.

Great BLOG by the way - I can't tell you how many times we're referred our clients (Canada) to your page as you detailed the issues w/Rosewoods spot on.

Are you able to provide me the FW for the drive you mentioned in this post? We've got a case we just did a MHA swap on and we're seeing some very odd results (ID's via native USB by no UA access). In SATA mode we don't see any sign of SED by cannot access modules via ID.
