The USB board of this drive was damaged beyond repair so I did a ROM swap to a compatible SATA board, imaged the drive with 0 error
The client says they had the drive password locked with the "Toshiba Storage Security Software"
There is an NTFS partition but its clearly encrypted, any way to decrypt this without the USB board?
I tried to use the Toshiba software but it's looking for the USB drive only.
PC3000 doesn't even see the locked partition..

Thanks!

How would the USB bridge know that those sectors belonging to a particular user defined partition are encrypted while those sectors outside this range are not? If that is indeed the case, then there must be a reserved area in the bridge EEPROM, or a reserved area on the drive.

Can you show us the Partitions tab in DMDE?

https://dmde.com/

Do the partitions fill the drive (1953525168 sectors), or is the drive's capacity slightly reduced?

Can you dump the bridge EEPROM?

Page 6 explains the secured and unsecured areas.

For Toshiba CANVIO series
Storage Security Software (Version 1.00.6904)
User’s Manual Version 1.00

This software creates two different types of storage areas on the device: “Unsecured Area”
that can be accessed without a password and “Secure Area” that requires a password to
access.

The bridge has no role in the encryption whatsoever.
The encryption/takes place through the Toshiba Storage Security software, which has to be installed on the computer. If the software isn't installed, the "Secure Area" volume will not be recognized, therefore not detect.

The unsecure area/volume contains the software to be installed. If that is damaged, then the software can be downloaded from the Toshiba website. Then install it on the computer.
Once connecting a drive, any drive with any interface (presumably a clone of the bad drive) will be detected and software will pop up asking for the password.

This is the same with encrypted Samsung external drives, where the Magician software installed on the computer detects the encrypted volume. Of the software isn't installed, the volume is not detected.
