Post subject:  Seagate ROM Issue

Hi Guru
Seagate 2TB when read and Write Rom with PC3000 SAP Error
Ask for help and guidance.
This hard drive has already been tampered with and I don't have access to the original ROM.
The map of the heads in this hard drive is manipulated.
I have attached the original ROM.
Thanks and any help would be appreciated

The bad SAP is at offset 0x246E8. There is a good copy at 0x646E8 in the second half of the ROM. You just need to write the good copy over the first copy.

It looks to me as if someone has deliberately fiddled with this area (head map?):

Good SAP

Code:
Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F

00001670                                01 02 03 04 05 05
00001680  06 07 08 09

Bad SAP

Code:
Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F

00001670                                01 00 01 00 01 05
00001680  06 07 08 09

BTW, the actual size of the ROM appears to be half of what you think it is, ie 512KB, not 1MB.

What should I do?
And is there a solution?

You just need to [use a hex editor to] write the good copy [of the SAP] over the first copy [of the SAP].

I did this in HEX EDITOR but I still get the SAP crash error
And I even made the map of the heads. But I didn't get the result

CRC needs to be corrected...

edit: it should be done by pc3k if you edit hd map using its dialog.

If you want to work with Seagate F3 ROMs, forget PC3K. Use F3RomExplorer instead.

The SAP segment has a size of 0x5018 bytes.

What are the part markings on your ROM? You still appear to be selecting the wrong ROM size.

Yes you are right
The size of the RAM on the board is 512 and I had not paid attention to this issue

I just restored your original SAP. I didn't meddle with the head map. That's up to you.

I'm not a DR pro. That's a question for @pepe.
