Recently I have been having some trouble repairing some N40P and Ares slimline maxtors. I am able to load a LDR and access the firmware and find the damaged firmware modules, and have donor firmware to write but on trying to write i get UNC and INF errors and am unable to repair the data. I know there is a way to re-assign SA defects but I am not exactly sure how. I am using PCI PC3000.

Thanks

Did you try to run Surface verification?

load a right LDR
check SA surface
write testting must pass
then rewrite damaged modules
if all succeed then test show bad still surface of SA then you need change UBA local address because its "real damaged" sometimes "re-assign SA defects " not use.
