Hi guys, have you guys come across in Data Extractor sometimes you can see the full directory structures but when you click on the individual directory and not showing contents? But if you restart the task it will appear again. Is this DE software bugs or the actual directory structures are corrupted?

Well, I'm not sure if it's a bug, but in fact sometimes costumers told me that it missed some data on their recoveries and then I run r-studio on the drive and found them all.

I think it has something to do with drive with bad sectors, that maybe DE can't overpass them well while reading structure.

IMHO depends on how DE read data and structures. So it is related to bad sectors. If you are using DE in "structure only" mode, it reads the related sectors every time you start the task (I suppose)...
A trick I use is to start the task with "Make data copy" flag on, and then go to structure window. In this way you need only to read one time from faulty drive, 'cause DE will use copied sector from target drive.

I suppose you have DE manual from Acelab (I will refer to PCI version).
For steps in page 10-11 (Creation of a data recovery task, folder selection, source device selection, task init) you can go as you usually go.
In Task Option window (figure 12 page 13) enable "Make data copy" box.
Then you can choose a target (destination device selection).
Click on Pc3000ATA1.
Now, before click ok in task info (next and last window), connect a same size or larger HD to PC3000ATA1 cable.
Power it.
Wait some seconds for its ready.
Click on OK button.
After same seconds DE will open.
Fix the task parameters as you need or prefer (another good point to use this method. Here you can set parameters you will use in structure extraction. In "normal mode" parameters are fixed)
Close parameters window if open.
Now, see below "Windows" menu. There is a structure icon.
Click on it you will go in structure tree.
Now you can explore tree.

The difference in this method is you can adjust the reading pass (eg. 50) and other para and when a good sector is read go to target drive. From that moment any other read to that sector will come from target drive. So you can save your patient drive from re-read bad sectors.

Of course, you can save work, and reopen later, you need to remember what target you use, pc3000 will remember it and you cannot change it later.

Hope it's clear. Good luck

Right-click on the folder -> Rescan. Usually helps :)
