Also, WD drives are relatively simple assuming you have the right tools and knowledge

Use wd tool again as it set the pw, let the process complete. YOu should end up with a zeroes drive that has no pw.

Contact wd and tell them what has happened, if still has a pw after doing the above.

I don't think the WD tool deliberately sets drive passwords. DLG or WD Tools will just report that the drive is locked and cannot proceed.

If WD's software was doing that, we would have heard that definitively on here by now.

just secure erase it. Use master password


WDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDWD 32 bytes etc....

I would have thought so, but who knows! with many users, someone could find an unknown bug.

Agree with guru, maybe just forgot to search here first for it.
