Yes, that is true, but how will the end user know, how to differentiate between someone who actually is capable and someone who just has the tools, but not the know how? Sure, your repution will eventually catch up with you, if you are not skilled and capable. I am seeing a trend in the industry similar to the IT industry, where a skilled Admin used to be highly respected and desired. Know every Dick and Jane has their MCSE, CCNA, etc...
But that does not mean that they are actually qualified to perform the work!
Also, everything is getting more and more simplistic, I remember when You actually still required some skills to properly setup and configure a Windows or Linux Server. Now everything for the most part has become automated, and a 12 year old can setup a server.
And of course information which once was difficult to obtain is all over the internet now. Not saying that I have not benefited from the information age, or that I don't appreciate a less expensive product
