 Post subject: New hitachi serial numbers?

I have been playing with couple of 2.5 sata travelstars lately and I noticed that they have added extra numbers to serial numbers? They have always been 14 but these two have the usual 14 and another 6 that look like the date. Has anyone else seen these lately?
