Thanks,

Anyplace that says it's accredited for DR is all marketing.

There is no official committee that regulates data recovery, or education pertaining to data recovery.

Welcome to the wild west of technology =)

Actually there is no proper school that can teach you data recovery. There are some places and some people that will gladly take your money and show you how to theoretically recover data from some old drives, but that's pretty much a joke. Kinda like your get rich quick Multi Level Marketing ads. There are only two ways to learn data recovery. One is lots of lots of testing, reading, training, purchase expensive tools, and then a few more years of testing and training. Or you can work for a data recovery company and learn from the senior guys.

Data recovery is one of those skills that have to be learned by doing. There is no school, no guru, no genius who will school you in the science and art involved and then hand you a diploma. Unless of course they're trying to scam you. If you're lucky, you can get an entry level position with a data recovery company. There are so many fine points, motor skills, test equipment, and trade secrets that it is not realistic to think that the subject can be learned in a short time. I'm not exaggerating when I say that after 20 years in the business I'm still learning.

Just because Scott is the only one available I would not call his courses professional, at least based on what's on the net...

Pepe, the man runs one of the most reputable DR firms in Georgia. His classes cover a lot of information for someone starting out in this business. What exactly would someone teach in a class that you would consider, "professional"? I'm curious.

How many reputable DR firms are there in Georgia, exactly?

Personally I would not consider anyone "professional" who posted DIY videos on Youtube of things that your average person has a 99% chance of doing wrong to the point of wrecking their drive. But that's just me.

One, and most important things that he misses is, what not to do in order to minimize failure during recovery.

Scots book is loaded with good information and one heck of a great value- it represents a lot of work! Books as this are next to impossible to locate, and one must start somewhere.

Why this sudden urge for people to get into data recovery? DR is more than YouTube videos and Moulton coloring books.

Because they think it's an easy way to make a quick buck!

And explains the recent increase in botched jobs we receive in :-(
