I've been accused of being too direct in the past, so I'll try my best to be polite.

30GB or 300GB, it's basically the same amount of work.

Like open heart surgery, writing your own legal documents, and defending yourself in court, this isn't a do-it-yourself kind of thing unless you don't care about the outcome. 99.5% chance that in the end, you'll have a worthless donor drive, no data, and no chance for anyone else to recover it. If you want to play, why not buy a junk drive on Ebay? That way, you'll only lose some random garbage instead of that 30GB you 'need'.

Agree with rchadwick.

Maybe on another type of drive you might stand a slight chance, but even the 0.5% success rate he suggests is too generous on this model IMHO.

If you don't want to pay, then you don't "need" your pics, end of.

I would be more than willing to help out if I thought it would help, as my past posts have shown. But this would seriously be pi**ing into the wind!

the thing is that this data to me is already lost, b/c i'm not willing to dish out 2K to get it back. so there are 2 options left for me, either toss it out and forget, or spend few hundred bucks and do everything i can and take my slim chance in fixing it.
