to try and recover my data quicker I'm helping my DR company look for:

WD 1.0TB USB3.0 Drive
MDL: WD10JMVW-xxS5Xxx
DCM: EHCTJBNB
DATE: 21 OCT 2012

I've spoken to the data recovery service and they don't want to power it up as this may cause irreparable damage. They did so however that as it is a 1TB capacity it uses all heads.

Not withstanding the above, can you help with a donor drive ?

i would suggest to let company search the donor, i think this is what they want. these passport drives are friendly for HSA compatibility so should not be a big deal.

no need to power the drive for that, it can be done by reading the ROM with PCB only (Boot ROM mode), or using an external programmer
