Bad advice, very bad advice. Atola isn't even remotely comparable to PC-3000. However, as mentioned license transfers aren't exactly allowed. If you can find someone in your same part of the world selling one, it'll continue to work but you won't be able to get the necessary updates which you'll need to continue working on the latest drives. So eventually you'll end up paying Ace to buy a legitimate unit. Their prices are high, but you get what you pay for. My PC-3000 Express unit pays for itself about every three months. I can't even count the number of cases I wouldn't have been able to do with any other tool. If you're making data recovery your main business, it's absolutely an essential part of your business.

As to Ace's prices, it all depends on your location. In Russia, or parts of Asia they aren't terribly expensive. Here in the USA we pay a small fortune for them.

There are no more updates for the original UDMA system. So, that really isn't an issue any more. With that in mind, how much are you offering?

Life was a little easier when ACE first started talking about the units:

PCI
UDMA
UDMA-E
Express

no in the north american market you get ripped off

if you know someone in Russia who can buy the tools its a lot cheaper

atola insight is a good tool i can freely sell the unit with no issues at all why is it bad advice
it can recover drives with corrupt firmware

but with all ACE Laboratory bullshit licence policy
controlling the market so there no second hand markets
is TOTAL BULL SHIT

and they need to open the market up a little bit more
