Post subject:  Imaging with Atola

Hello Dmitry: two questions from an Atola user (me):

1. If i am imaging to a (say) 160G target drive, with a 160Gb source drive, is it required to zero fill the target beforhand?
Either:
a. NO it is not required because any non readable sectors in the source will be written as 0000 to the target
b. YES you better had because any non readable sectors in the source are NOT written to the target, and these spaces may contain previous information

:) or is there a third option :):) ?

2. The older versions had reverse imaging, the new multi/pass media map version is cool, but why can't i reverse image tricky areas any more?

Thanks

Simon

Hello Simon,

1. No, you don't need to zero-fill the destination. Unreadable sectors at the source will be zeroed out on destination. This behavior will be adjustable in the upcoming versions of Atola Insight.

2. Reverse imaging will be back in the upcoming versions of Atola Insight :)

I am currently away from my home country; if you'd like to hear more exact dates when this will become available, please let me know and I will find out.

Thanks!
