Surely the product is supported and will be replaced if defective?

i dont think they would do anything as i had it a year.

there no quality control check on these units
they should benchmark them or do a soak test to make sure the power supply is fully working

lucky i checked for updates of the firmware as this is running out end of this month.

the fault is missing voltage on the target drive source.

any advice has anyone else had this issue

It doesn't sound like a difficult fault to troubleshoot. If you upload some detailed photos or scans, I would be interested in having a look for you.

No, but I own a brain, and I've repaired more than a thousand power supplies, in all kinds of equipment, without schematics.

The fault appears to be a simple power supply issue. If so, then any competent technician (ie one that doesn't rely on board swaps) will be able to troubleshoot it without too much difficulty. In any case, I'm curious as to what the product looks like. Who knows, I may even buy one.

There is one year warranty on the Atola tools.

Bet, any agent who sold this device is able and happy to assist
in checking this specific tool - or to give you some hints to do
that yourself.

Its definitely no big deal to test this system ....

which is shutting down the target drive power unit

unit is about to go out of warranty this weekend

which sucks

i try and get some photos uploaded of the unit later on

Hello Craig,

We resolve this kind of issues very quickly and efficiently. All you had to do is to drop us an email. Anyway, Walter already offered help.

Just to clarify: how exactly are you powering up the target drive? Older versions of Atola Insight software will not allow you to power on the target drive; power will be applied only when needed (for example, when imaging to Target drive). Newer versions have a separate Target Power ON/OFF override button.

About the HASP SRM system:

The "remote server" in this case is the DiskSense unit itself. It does not communicate outside of your local network.

the unit i have got is a separate target power on and off override button

there is no power going to the regulator at all

power unit is working order

this is possible look like a software issue or firmware issue or some how its got corrupted
as the unit was working fine before this update

You've had it for a year, haven't used it once, it was broken when you got it, but a firmware update killed it, its out of warranty because its more than a year old, but the warranty will be up soon, and it used to work fine?

This thread doesn't make any sense.

Hello Craig,

You can downgrade the software (it will also downgrade the firmware automatically if required); if you have a specific issue about the downgrade, then please elaborate. All previous versions are on the same download page.

Do not worry about the subscription. You will always be able to install any version that came out before subscription expiration date. A quote from FAQ:
Quote:
Q:Will Atola Insight stop working after subscription expiration date?
A: No, it will not. You can use Atola Insight forever, however, you will not be able to install versions that came out after your subscription expiration date. In other words, you can use any version of Atola Insight that was released prior to your subscription expiration date.

This applies to Atola Insight, Atola Imager, and Atola Forensic Imager.

Anyway, I would like to concentrate on the missing target power issue. Please take two good (healthy) drives; attach them to the DiskSense unit and start imaging from one drive to another. Will the imaging begin? Will Target drive power on automatically?

In the support request you've submitted through our website today you mentioned that your unit has a Target Power ON/OFF override button. This is impossible; we only put Source HDD power ON/OFF buttons on the unit. Target HDD is powered on and off automatically by the software when required.

In the latest versions of the software it is possible to control (override) power of the Target drive. I've sent you a private message about that yesterday.

Craig,

I have checked with the developers; it appears that the target power ON button has not yet been added to the software (it is scheduled to be released in the next version of the software). The only button you can find now for Target port is Power Off (there is no On button because power is applied automatically by the software). I am sorry for the confusion.

Can you please take a screenshot of your Atola Imager screen? You can post it here.

Thank you.

hi dmitry enclose is the photo

did they change the software update for it to instead pickup the automatic target drive
im sure it used to work the on/off target switch on the program.

just one question about media recovery
it a little bit confusing

it says it safe for data

but under it there is this

the important note saying please do not attempt to recover data by using this feature use image first

so does that mean its not used for data recovery of the data
or is it safe to use this if image does not work.

i dont want to lose any files that all

i read throu the instruction but does not explain what it used for

thank you for all your help
and please change the subject or delete this
