Hello There.

I have a disk with a small surface damage on the first 0.5mm of one platter.

When installing a new HSA I can image a little until heads fail again (from passing bad area I guess).

I will do a new HSA swap but now image those sectors away from the damaged area. I have attached Atolas log of first pass of almost whole disk. Any ideas how I can now LOAD this as custom media map to NOT go near these areas?

Thanks

Hello,

In the current version of Insight, you may continue with your current session without creating a new one, just press "Resume" on the current session. You will always be able to change the pass or modify any setting of current session.

Dear Mediaman,
After replacing the HSA again, you might try to mechanically limit the movement of the head from hitting the damaged area of the platter. Hopefully, there isn't too much critical data in the damaged area. Recovering data from drives with platter damage is always a challenge. There can be additional platter damage on one or more of the lower platters that is difficult to see if it is a multiplatter hard drive. those types of drives can eat up your profit if it destroys the heads from multiple donor drives.
