Updated English Manuals were promissed when we purchased the equipment but it's almost a year and we haven't got any updated manuals!!! Please update the english versions. I understand it may be a priority to serve chinese people, but there are a lot of us who rely on English Manuals!!!!!!

Tons of posts have been written about this point - with minor effect for the "older" tools.
I daubt that any kind of arguing or complaint will help - its filtered by those of SD staff
who still do understand english (and could translate it to the boss), but dont want to
bother him with "negative" impressions.

I bet this message - allthough definitely read from SD staff - will never ever reach the head.

Besides the poor staff - dealing and stuggling day by day with complaints and suggestions
- where they know, they have to make promises and conversations in the name of the
company, allthough the "middle management" is not going to keep them.

In offering the free manual (written by Ann LeFlore, Tahiti) for the Maxtor Tool - we now
learned, that not only she was promised compensation - but others too. None was kept.
SD - you lost your integrity, your face !

So far some information on that ....
***

But, to be fair, the technicians are outstanding and helpful. And some of the posts here in
the forum are definitely prejudice.

Especially the manual from Ann LeFlore proves, that this tool has several features that are
very special, not met by other tools - but only accessable in understanding this tool. There-
fore (proper) manuals is a basic requirement for selling such tools.

SD will face ongoing complaints and make much less business as long as they are not willing
to invest for proper manuals. I told that months ago - its reducible to one point - money !
2 tools - cost of material about US$ 50.- = to much to compensate up to 1500 hours of work?

Its sad to see that a company with high skills and big potential is struggling in internal fights
of authority, while the ones on the (selling) front with the better knowledge are left out in
the rain....

Its a shame !

Perhaps - one on the front is able to translate this post into chinese (completely, correctly and
uncensored) - and place it on the desk of Mr. Liang.

Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:37:29 AM): good morning, that dellguy
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:37:35 AM): how are you today ?
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:37:51 AM): hi vinent

Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:38:04 AM): fine too
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:38:23 AM): we just released the 7.3 version of Data Compass
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:38:27 AM): more functions
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:38:38 AM): awesome
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:38:47 AM): Added Feature: 1. Add the feature to disable the automatic read carried out to the unrequested sectors by the drive. This unrequested read happens because of the look ahead read buffer built in modern drive. A look ahead read buffer automatically senses the direction of the read sequence, sets the direction based on the current and previous read addresses, and prefetches data from memory to allow a Host device such as a CPU to read data out of the look ahead read buffer with no wait states, rather than accessing this data directly in slower memory that requires wait states. This read buffer is especially useful for the good drives since data can be read much faster in this way; but when it comes to the bad drives, especially the ones with severe bad sectors, reading the unrequested sector
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:39:44 AM): sorry , you don't have Data Compass ?
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:39:56 AM): i think you only have HD Doctor Suite and HD HPE PRO,

Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:41:49 AM): you only have hd doctor ?
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:42:27 AM): i have all the doctors except the old fujitsu
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:42:37 AM): and the platter tool
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:43:24 AM): i see. you have hd doctor for seagate, maxtor, wd and hitachi

thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:44:16 AM): i feel like i mentioned this last time
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:44:36 AM): but for multipul bad sector hard drive, data compass can do something that pc3k don't do
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:45:50 AM): do you have the function list of Data Compass?
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:46:15 AM): it has shadow disk function to protect the hdd from further damage while reading data
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:46:31 AM): only requires one time read and write
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:46:48 AM): and SA emulation function to bypass some SA
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:46:59 AM): and selective head function
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:47:06 AM): to disable some heads
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:47:30 AM): if head 0 damage, you disable it and directly read data from head 1 and head 2
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:47:52 AM): I seriously couldnt even consider dc until the other tools are fixed
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:48:09 AM): to be completely honest with you

Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:49:06 AM): you know, DE and data compass are two different product with different technologies
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:49:18 AM): yes i know that
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:49:41 AM): my business is to know each tools weaknesses and strong points
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:49:42 AM): really there are some advanced functions in dc that DE never have
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:50:17 AM): but if you don't have data compass, how do you know its strong points
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:50:49 AM): other people that i know own it
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:52:08 AM): have you tried dc unit ?
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:52:15 AM): i mean personly you use it ?
thatdellguy (10/27/2009 1:52:16 AM): not personally
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:53:54 AM): but better you can try to find a client who use it
Alex from SalvationDATA (10/27/2009 1:54:02 AM): you personly try it

Hi

After handing out the first manual I have made for Maxtor Doctor recovery and how to work with this tool. I have received other requests for other manuals. Each manual is in the making and needs more testing and some updates to add to them. Each one was started and close to finishing when the contract was broken between SD and myself.

If anyone is interested in the complete set of manual and would like to assist me in some of the work that would be appreciated. It is hard here on a small island in the middle of the South Pacific to have access to all drives that are on the market and in use. Here we are limited on the drives that come to our islands and seems that the companies here only buy stock in certain drive family. For me this makes it more difficult to test some of the features and functions to document the correct usage of each drive and tool.

It appears after my release to the public this manual SD is trying now to offer some manuals of their own. I have seen them to offer a manual for Seagate 7200.11 repair. This has been a solution for a long time standing problem in the Seagate drive and many documents have been produced as they call case studies on this problem. Now after the release of a manual for recovery work this one is now available for others to download and to use.

I do feel if we in the DR field are going to continue our work we have no time to hold off for small inserts and small publications to problems that have been well documented in the past to arrive for us now in the form of a manual. Where is the complete manual on Seagate Doctor? Are we only going to get bits and pieces of this tool from now until the year well who knows when. The manual for the WD is way over 4 years old and has indications inside of there for tools that are no longer in existence and sold by this company.

I realize that the tools have a useful meaning if any one can figure them out and try to understand the purpose behind them with the manual that comes with them. I too have other tools here for me to use and can not relay solely on these tools to do my work. But I do know others have to relay solely on these tools to do their work with. Others tools in this field are very expensive and take time for small companies to purchase for their use.

It appears to me if we are to use these tools correctly and for the designed purpose the only way to do this is test the features of each tool and find the bugs inside of them as thatdellguy has done and posted so well here on this forum and on SD forum. He sees that these tools have a purpose and would only like to assist in the corrections of the bugs and faults inside of them to make the recovery use more useful.

If anyone is willing to assist in some of the testing and send me the documents from them I will be more than happy to finish the other manuals when all the functions are fully tested and documented. Each person who helps in this testing and supplies information will be the first to receive the completed manual for their use. The other manuals will not be given out freely as this one has been done. Only reason I decided with the help and assistence of flather to do this was to protect myself and SD taking my work and using it under their name. I would rather give this one manual to everyone for free than have to see my work offered by SD with their name on it as part of their tool they sell. It was a hard decision to make but after careful thought it was the only way to protect the work that I had done and the time I had invested into this project and contact with SD on the manuals. I would rather give it to you free than to them. I hope that there will be more positive feed back from all this and some good will come from this manual to all of you.

Wow.

To be fair, I've never received a private message asking to remove this topic:
which-salvationdata-doctor-has-the-most-bugs-vote-now-t12962.html

Upon checking further, I've figured out that you've sent that message to "dmitrypostrigan", the account I do not use anymore :)

Anyway, I have now removed that topic.
