Hello all,

i am new to this so be light on me. I ventured away from the tech team here and suggested the Salvation Data tools. Now, everyone in the office is getting a giggle while I wade through this alone.

As per the SD team, I am using the forum for some moral, emotional and most of all the knowledge support.. I stand to gain a lot and hope all will be patient with me.

I have a WD800BB-75FRA0 that was help diagnose with the SD support via chat, since the team viewer seldomly work between me an SD, was said to have a firmware issue.

Now for my ignorance, I was told to get a donor hdd to replace the PCB. My question with all the firmware repository like datadonor.net, could I use that firmware from the exact fit to load instead of replacing the PCB?

If you read their Western Digital Doctor manual version 2.0, and search for "one-click", it says auto firmware repair.. where is the auto when I have to replace the PCB?

If I understood then i would not be asking such a fundamental question?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
K

Diagnosis of the hard drive failure only comes with years and years of experience. Otherwise your just replacing parts and wasting money and time.

What is your hard drive doing? Does it spin up come ready and then spin down again? Can you load from HDD with your tool? Maybe this drive has problems with the ATA modules or even could be stuck in Kernal mode. This is very common with WD drives. If the pcb board has to be swapped out be careful for this one. You might also have to swap out the ROM on this to make it work again. Post the problem here for this drive and we can or might be able to give you a little insight as to what to look for or try to do using your tools on this one
