ive just ordered a PC-3000 Portable to do the things my Atola products dont do that I need. Im hoping it will cover everything i require but will post again once i actually have it. Yes it is more limiting that the full version but then again it is a lot cheaper and, as far as i can see, no ongoing update costs...

Would be great if you could let us know what you think about the PC3000 Portable when you've tested it.
Would like to know what it does & does not do compared to the UDMA version.

pc-3000 portable arrived a couple of days ago. not really had a chance to use it much so far but just making my way through the manual. not having UDMA its a bit difficult to say what it doesnt do but seems to be more to do with Head Replacements, more complicated firmware jobs, PCB swaps where adaptives are stored in MCU etc.

I assume theres some option in UDMA for recalibrating WD heads after replacing? Perhaps someone can confirm this.

I suspect it will take me a good few months to experiment with this, and then probably end up shelling out more for UDMA + DE.

Hello to all
I do not know what are you thinking about SD or PC-3000 tools but I have to mention a few tips:
-at this time PC-3000 Portable is as powerful as PC-3000 UDMA because ACE Laboratory release a new software for Portable that is same as PC-3000 UDMA.
- SD can not identify any exact Family for example it can not see :Mammoth - Sabre-Hawk-Zeus-Raider ....Dragfly-Pinnacle .......... and many others and it is clear that can not solve any special problem that may occur For a particular model in any brand an family of HDD however PC-3000 can and has special command for them.
- SD post everywhere that it can repair Firmware automatically . IT IS A BIG BIG BIG BIG VERY BAD LIE. I will describe for you :
As you know any Firmware contain some Modules and they have importance Level and you can not Rewrite Unique Module from another HDD .But in SD automatic repair means connect to same HDD and it copy all Modules from one and write those to the other and it means forget that HDD . SD never ever can show you the importance level of Modules , believe me .
- SD has 4 bottom to repair the HDD and if do not work no problem let it go because you are not able to repair and no one can do it , no it is not correct .
-They sell you part by part and any of these toys has a cheap price ,but if you get the total price it is not more cheaper that the others.
- SD is not a Powerful Box ,infact it is a convertor IDE to USB just.
- SD do not release Update at good time .
...
...
...
I can write for you more and more but ... I am not same as them...................................

Have a good good time and do not waste your money for a cheap toy
