Hi,
i was reading about regenerate ROM option in HD DOCTOR FOR WD.
I have a WD3200AAJS with a not working PCB that have the rom integrated in the MCU. This repairs are suppose to be done with a rework Station desoldering the MCU and migrating to the donor PCB.
So, actually i know i can read mods using a donor PCB in low access mode and also test heads and stuff.
My question is. How can i actually regenerate the rom because i don't think that i can simply click on the button "REGENERATE ROM"
i also was doing some research but those cases are when you have a corrupted rom. In this case i don't have the ROM.
Sorry for asking but any answer will help me a lot.
Regards,

I don't see why HD Doctor couldn't automatically regenerate the ROM, but here is my take on the underlying process:

Well,
So it's safe to use the regenerate rom?
I haven't tried to click the button on regenerate because i never had to use it and now just to be safe that i was basically asking.

I'm not a DR professional, but I have heard that some models are not correctly handled by HD Doctor, resulting in ROM corruption. However, if you are using an expendable donor PCB, then it can't hurt to try.

BTW, I should have added that in some cases the SA modules are empty, ie they will contain the string "NOT INIT". In such cases I believe it may be possible to regenerate adaptive data from selfscan logs, but I'm not a data recovery professional.
