Hi,

I have a problem with a seagate which i repaired 0 lba error using SD Tool for Seagate, i used the commands before to repair some hard drives and now i used the Fix Capacity Error Button feature for 7200.11, that worked and i can see all the data in the hard drive.

The problem now is that i cannot recover it, i tried imaging the drive and after 25gb created the drive stop reading and makes error. I tried the Data Compass image partition function. And also tried another image program. Everything works perfectly and after 25gb i'm screwed.

I tried clearing smart also and nothing.

Note: I only need to image a partition with 100gb or recover directly which is less secure.

HDD Info:
Momentus 7200.4
Capacity: 160GB
Firmware: 003SDM1

Any answer will help
Regards,

Perhaps you can provide a terminal log, to start. If I were a betting man, I'd bet on the heads crashing and needing to be replaced, if it isn't too late.

Partial access problem.

It happens when you erase non resident g list and regen translator without taking non resident g intro account.

If you apply lba 0 fix with the 7200.11 commands and your drive have non resident g you are in trouble.

Salvation data seagate tool have an option to solve this problem with one click.
Pc3k can recover the translator by the fork method on a case like this.

If you don't have tools there is also the Leonardo method.

I misread the OP in that I thought he said that it is no longer reading at all. So, I agree with this.

1 - With SD tool backup ALL Tracks and modules of SA, in case this ends up badly.

2 - Read here - http://malthus.zapto.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=196

3 - Try the m0,6,3 variant and check to see if you regain access to the data.

I'll check and let you know Thanks.

Btw. Have you tried the one click fix partial accessibility ?

Only to know :?:

Once again i think that my advice was of positive use !
I just think it to be unfair for my account to be banned when i helped so much people on the past here at this forum, most of the time without charging/recieving a cent, even when people used that knownbledge to charge $600 - $1200 to clients.

Ahem......

Glad that it worked out for you.
