I've still got a few hidden around here that would be nice to unload and get out of my office. Now they are used as paperweights or bookends. Not much more you can do with them than that. However, I did drag out the old Maxtor box not too long ago when a surprise hit my doorsteps. A Maxtor 40GB HDD that needed to be recovered. Low and behold the tool still actually worked and I was able to fix the drive with the tool and get back the data. Haven't used it in so long had to spend a few minutes to refresh my mind as to where to find the menus on this tool. They still do work, just not as useful now with all the new technology and dives out there.

Does anyone have a SalvationDATA HDD Doctor that they would be willing to disassemble and photograph?

For old drives you will be better off with older tools (or PC-3000). If you don't have PC-3000 forget about using modern "alternatives" like MRT and/or SeDiv on older drives like Maxtor. SeDiv will not even work on Maxtor and MRT MAXTOR tool is pure junk. You will be way better with SD Maxtor tool than you will with MRT.
SD MAXTOR tool should be ok and "decent".
And yes some photos of the SD hardware (SD doctors) from INSIDE would be nice ...

Hi guys, I'm so sorry, I've been searching for these pics all day long but I didn't find them unfortunately. May I could have forgotten to backup them at my old firm's, if it is so, there is no way to get them back. I'm so sorry

Anyway if i find them i'll post them surely for you.
